The Texas Elks Sweetheart Program is a special program that Texas Elks lodges are involved in to raise funds for the Texas Elks State Major Project, "Texas Elks Grants for Special Children". This program recognizes the need to help special needs children realize their fullest potential. Children across the State of Texas have been helped with hearing aids, wheelchairs and computers with Braille capabilities, special braces, and many other devices that help make them stronger and more confident. The program requires action at each Lodge level. A Sweetheart is chosen for each lodge, and that person works hard for the next year representing his or her lodge and raising funds for this program.
